Special effects guru Ray Harryhausen celebrates his 88th birthday on June 29. Long before Computer Generated Images (CGI), Harryhausen led the way in Hollywood special effects, employing the technique known as Stop Action. Dinosaurs, skeletons, flying saucers, and all manner of beasts were moved frame by frame by frame to create the effect of motion, and thrill and amaze movie-goers!
